The 12 sidereal signs

Each sign spans 30° of the sidereal zodiac. Explore its range and traditional classification without treating a sign as a prediction.

0°00′–30°00′

Aries

Fire · Movable. The first 30° of the sidereal zodiac. In a chart, Aries is a location on the circle—not a complete description of a person.

30°00′–60°00′

Taurus

Earth · Fixed. The second 30° segment. Whether a calculated body falls in Taurus can depend on the chosen ayanamsa, while the sign’s 30° span remains constant.

60°00′–90°00′

Gemini

Air · Dual. The third sidereal sign. When Gemini rises, the entire Gemini sign is house one in a whole-sign chart.

90°00′–120°00′

Cancer

Water · Movable. The fourth sidereal sign. A placement at the end of Cancer is close to a boundary, so small calculation differences deserve attention.

120°00′–150°00′

Leo

Fire · Fixed. The fifth 30° segment. A planet here can also be described by its degree, nakshatra, and whole-sign house.

150°00′–180°00′

Virgo

Earth · Dual. The sixth sidereal sign. The sign label is a calculated coordinate; any life interpretation is a separate step.

180°00′–210°00′

Libra

Air · Movable. The seventh 30° segment. A chart may contain no planets in Libra; that does not make the sign or its house disappear.

210°00′–240°00′

Scorpio

Water · Fixed. The eighth sidereal sign. Always inspect its exact longitude when comparing charts from different tools.

240°00′–270°00′

Sagittarius

Fire · Dual. The ninth 30° segment. Whole-sign houses count from the rising sign, so its house number varies by birth time and place.

270°00′–300°00′

Capricorn

Earth · Movable. The tenth sidereal sign. A sign is not identical to a house: sign positions are fixed, house numbers depend on the ascendant.

300°00′–330°00′

Aquarius

Air · Fixed. The eleventh 30° segment. The Moon can cross a sign boundary during a day, making birth time important even without a rising sign.

330°00′–360°00′

Pisces

Water · Dual. The final sidereal segment before the circle returns to Aries. Longitudes wrap from 359.99° back to 0°.
