These five labels describe the instant of local sunrise, not every interval of the day. Rahu Kaal is a traditional eighth-of-day rule, not evidence of harm. The view does not include limb transition/end times, festivals, or other muhurta. The sidereal offset is approximate; boundary labels may differ.
How this view works
Astronomy Engine searches for the Sun’s rise and set at the selected coordinates using a standard atmospheric-refraction assumption and a level horizon. At sunrise, the script calculates apparent geocentric Sun and Moon longitudes. Their difference determines tithi and karana; the Moon’s approximate sidereal longitude determines nakshatra; and the sum of Sun and Moon sidereal longitudes determines yoga. Rahu Kaal uses one of eight equal daylight segments selected by weekday.
Elevation, local terrain, weather, and alternative Panchang conventions can change reported times. This view is not suitable for a ritual deadline or other consequential timing decision.
