How Kalika calculates a Janma Kundli
The astronomical model, Jyotisha conventions and scope limits behind the D1 chart and derived tables.
D1 Rashi chart
The chart engine calculates apparent geocentric ecliptic longitudes with Astronomy Engine, then applies an approximate Lahiri-style sidereal offset anchored at J2000. Rahu uses the mean lunar node and Ketu is placed opposite it. The rising point uses the entered local birth time, coordinates, and IANA timezone.
Whole-sign houses are used: the rising Rashi is the first bhava, and each following Rashi receives the next house number. Ayanamsa, ephemeris, node choice, time zone, or coordinates can change a placement, especially near a boundary.
Divisional charts
The chart maps all sixteen named Shodashvarga from the same D1 longitudes under the rules stated in the calculator. It renders the selected varga in North Indian and South Indian styles; these are two drawings of the same assignments. D30 uses unequal traditional segments. Fine divisions such as D60 can change with small input or model differences, so boundary-near results are provisional.
D9 Navamsha follows the movable, fixed, and dual sign starting rules described on the Shodashvarga page. Do not read a divisional placement without its own divisional ascendant and house assignments.
Jaimini and KP tables
The Jaimini table applies one stated seven-karaka convention, excludes Rahu from the karaka order, and derives twelve arudha padas with named sign-lord choices and the tenth-from-projection exception. It does not calculate Jaimini dashas.
The KP-style table divides planetary and ascendant nakshatra spans into Vimshottari-proportion star and sub-lords. It is not a complete KP chart: it does not calculate KP ayanamsa, Placidus cusps, cuspal sub-lords, significators, horary charts, or predictions.
Precision and responsible use
The implementation is checked by a finite set of independent fixtures and boundary tests, not validated for every place, historical date, or convention. Browser timezone databases can also affect old local times. Do not use the result as the sole basis for medical, legal, financial, or other consequential decisions.
This site does not provide a personal interpretation or claim a certain event follows from a chart. Traditional readings vary by lineage and require human judgment.
